| 5/9 PM Once again, today was another brutal day of watching your child suffer. Amanda has started to stabilize. There are 11 IVs going with a constant watch on every one of them. A ventilator continues to breathe for her. She still feels pain. She can point and motion to us when she needs something but usually she's out of it. Her fevers continue and hover around 102F. She is on a cooling blanket which keeps her body temp down. Her lab work continues to be off and her body fluids are still out of proportion. Her blood sugars are still all over the place. The bronchial scope showed fluid in her lungs. They washed her lungs out and tried to suction the secretions out. We are waiting for biopsy reports tomorrow. They also did a sonogram of her veins looking for clots. The next 48 hrs will be challenging and critical to her recovery. Amanda's kidneys are not putting out enough fluid and they had to hold her immune suppression medication because they affect kidney functions. Holding the immune suppression drugs now creates a problem with rejection of her organs. We are in a catch 22. She has received several units of blood, we could use more donations. Thank you for all of your e-mails of support. Love, Mike and Monica P.S. We had to dismantle Amanda's room today because of her stay at the PICU. It was a sad moment for us. Please continue to send Amanda cards to be placed in her new room when she returns. Thanks |
