Dear Friends;

Today has been a very frustrating day. For Amanda she continues to suffer so much and for me having to watch her suffer and not being able to do anything to change that suffering. Amanda continues to have high fever which the doctors believe is being caused by the constant vomiting and some getting into her lungs which causes an aspirated pneumonia. Amanda vomits constantly and feels so nauseated always. She is vomiting gastric fluids but also a good amount of blood and blood clots.

Today the doctors had a plan but by one o'clock that all fell apart. They were supposed to scope her stomach down thru her mouth and for that she needs sedation but the doctor didn't feel she was able to get through it well and put the scope on hold until they intubate her during her surgery. Instead, to try to prevent further aspiration into the lungs they put in another NG tube which, let me tell you, doesn't make Amanda any happier. The NG at first was working but now is clotted with what I believe is a blood clot so she continues to vomit bile and blood. Her sugars are also out of control so they consulted endocrinology and they now put her on an insulin drip and are monitoring her blood sugars every 2 hours.

Truly this whole thing is a domino effect and a very nasty cycle, the more she continues to vomit the more chance of aspiration then fevers and then the surgery to fix it, which she has to be healthy enough to have. I'm getting very tired watching my daughter suffer day by day waiting for it all to get better. Hopefully this surgery is the answer. I will keep updating.

Love,
