| 3/15 Amanda is looking better today. She has been to the play room for a few minutes twice today to play with arts and crafts. She still tires easily and gets nauseated. Amanda has been able to take fluids by mouth. She actually liked apple juice. The biopsy came back with minimal rejection. The OKT3 is working keeping the immune system suppressed. It's been a quiet day otherwise. Monica and I are still suffering from the loss of Nathan. The fact that the happy, smiley face boy is no longer with us just breaks our hearts. We spent time with Marty and Stephani last night and this morning. We helped them move some toys of Nathan's, that they donated to the play room at the hospital. They are staying in Naples till Monday and then flying home to Arizona with Morgan. Marty and Stephani were very special to us. They are the type of people you meet and instantly bond with. Stephani & Marty were always there for us when Amanda was running the gauntlet, helping us cope with the stress and life of a transplant patient. They knew everyone at the hospital, there wasn't anything they couldn't find out for us when we needed to know it. We laughed and smiled together, constantly trying to keep our spirits up. Monica and I only wish that the four of us could of had a happy ending to this story and that our children would have become great friends. We've promised to stay in touch and keep our bond strong. The last thing they said to us was if we needed them for anything to call them, even with all they are going thru. True friends are hard to find especially when times are rough. My mother is recovering at the rehab center and things are going well. She still has a couple more weeks before she gets the cast removed on her left arm. This will help with her mobility as far as getting in and out of a wheel chair until her legs heal. Hopefully she'll be able to go home by the end of April. Monica and I thank you so much for letting us vent to you, it helps ease our lives. We also appreciate everything that everyone has done for us so far and for the thoughts and prayers for us and those at the hospital with us. Love, Mike and Monica |
