| 3/6 Dear Friends; Well we have made it to the pediatric transplant floor. We have a room, 5073. Amanda's first day had good events but also a couple bad. First her biopsy came back that she continues to have rejection but improving so we will continue the OKT3 and her last dose will be on Saturday. Today we will be having another scope to see how it looks. The highlight of yesterday was Dr Kato pulled out her Ng tube, she didn't enjoy the actual pulling but she is glad that the tube is out of her nose. We are still having vomiting issues but hopefully with a little time it will subside. Yesterday Amanda had to go down to have her permanent port put in and well, the putting in of the port was ok, they put her under general anesthesia, but in post-op someone turned off her IV's but not her insulin drip. Amanda wasn't reacting. They took her sugar and it was 24 which is dangerously low, she was overdosing on the insulin. They had to bolus her with a sugar iv and she reacted. I can't tell you how bad of a situation we were in. She returned to the floor and rested the rest of the evening. She continues to be quiet, but saying more words. Throughout the night she continued to vomit but today we will try to walk more. The address to the hospital is on the web site just add Pediatric Surgical Transplant Unit Amanda Buddemeyer Rm #5073. Thanks again - we are hanging all her cards all over the walls in her room along with her gifts. Love The Buddemeyer Family |
