3/1
Amanda had a relatively peaceful day. She got out of bed and walked about 50' and sat up in the chair for a little while. They have moved her out of isolation back into the main PICU. Amanda can have visitors again. Just in time because Samantha came to visit. Samantha and Amanda did a "search objects out" book. They held hands and Sammy even got a kiss when she left. If only it could be like that at home! Amanda is still not talking, she hasn't talked to us or anyone in a couple of days. We think it is due to the nausea she continues to experience (lots of dry heaving) and doesn't want to open her mouth or any sudden movement. Amanda's appearance looks better and we're surprised by her physical strength. The doctors are talking about moving her to a regular room if her progress continues.

Amanda's medical progress is not as good as the physical. The scope still shows severe rejection with little improvement. The doctors tell us that little improvement is better than getting worse and that we have a 14 day window to work with. They keep telling us that things are better and not to worry it will work. Monica and I know the doctors are right and we're hanging in there. Amanda is on very little pain medication, which is good. All her other lab work has been stable.
