well she is out of surgery 12:30 pm 15.5 hours later and sent to peds intensive care. Before I start to give a run I want to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers right now things are hectic but please believe me I'm getting all messages and mike and I appreciate and it gives us very good feelings knowing all the wonderful loving kind words and efforts on everyone's part.
Here we go:
1:30 pm mike and I were able to see Amanda for the first time and even though we have been doing this for 8 yrs I can't describe the feeling we had when we saw her it was incredibly hard. she was so swollen and had 10 iv pumps attached also since they not only replaced the stomach small bowel, pancreas and spleen they had to use allot of the large intestine so now she has a colostomy bag. they put in a g-tube, jb-tube and a temporary foley. she is on the ventilator to help her breath because during surgery her left lung collapsed. inspite of all this the surgeons say the surgery went well the donor was a good match and they were very pleased how everything attached and all mike and I could do is cry. we are so thankful and yet sad that another family is suffering for there great lost. I have to tell you it was very overwhelming to see Amanda the first time it broke our hearts but the nurses and doctors are great and assured us that she is being heavily medicated and not feeling pain.
5:00pm they weren't able to close Amanda's abdomen because of all the swelling and will have to go back to surgery either Friday or Saturday time will tell. her bandages are oozing alot of blood and her ng tube also is putting out alot of blood so the are giving her fluids to replace the lost it is a constant balance the new organs need alot of hydration but at the same time her lungs need to get rid of the fluid. they are keeping and eye on her blood count along with her medications she needs.
9:pm she remains the same being watched carefully continues on the vent mike and I are going to get some sleep I pick up in the morning.
